How to Create Group in Google Contacts?
- First of all, open a web browser and go to Google Contacts. Then, log in to your Google account.
- In the left-hand menu, click on the Create label option.
- Provide the group name as you desire. Then, click on the Save button.

Add People in New Group from Mail Contact List
- Click Contacts in the left sidebar. Hover your mouse over the profile pic that you want to add.
- Check the selection box next to their name.
- Select all the contacts that you want to add to the group.
- Choose the Manage labels icon and then click on the label that you want to create. Press the Apply button.
Add User Contacts from Individual Contact Card
- Choose specify contact and open the details by clicking it.
- Press More actions (three vertical dots) at the top right corner.
- Select the name of your label from the dropdown menu.
How to Modify Google Contact Group?
There are some times when you have to edit Google Contact Groups or Labels, like name, adding new members, or removing existing ones. If you want to do these modifications. Follow the steps below.
- Go to the Google Contacts, find the labels section that contains the contacts.
- Hover your mouse over the group name, then click the pencil icon.
- Now, you rename your Group name and click Save.
- To delete the groups, click on the Trash can.
- If you want to remove people from the group. Click on the Group or label name in the left sidebar.
- Hover your mouse over contacts, and check the selection box next to the name.
- Click on the Manage labels icon, then uncheck the checkmark next to the people you want to remove. Apply these changes.
- To add new people, check the boxes next to the new people.
Tips to Manage Google Contacts Groups Efficiently
You have created a group for your contacts, and you know how to edit it. Now, it is also important to manage them. Here are the tips that you must use.
- Use a prefix when labelling names to keep them grouped alphabetically.
- You can add years or a project for temporary groups so that you know where the contact’s details are.
- Shorten group names to prevent any visual cutoff in Gmail.
- Check the Other Contacts folder in the sidebar for people you have emails for, but you don’t officially save, and group them instantly.
- Use the Merge & fix tool before editing groups to avoid adding duplicate profiles for the same person.
- When emailing large internal or external contact groups, paste the label into the Bcc field to protect user privacy and prevent chaotic Reply All chains.
- One contact can have multiple labels. So, assigning a single person to multiple labels to fit all the roles.
- To merge target audiences, type multiple group names into a single Gmail draft for a single email announcement.
- Make sure your contacts have their actual first and last names filled out. Because groups of full blank names with just an email address are difficult to search later.
- Regularly backup your group lists to protect from accidental deletion
